Did you know that there are currently more than 3.09 billion active video gamers across the world? Not only does this illustrate the sheer popularity of the genre, but it also signifies that developers are always aiming to remain one step ahead of the consumer curve. So, it only stands to reason that many fans are eagerly anticipating what 2024 has in store. Let’s take a look at a handful of the most anticipated releases as well as why gamers from all walks of life should keep a close eye on the latest industry news.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Prince of Persia was initially released as afar back as 2003 and it has remained one of the most popular franchises ever since. Fans will therefore be ecstatic to learn that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is slated to be released in early January 2024. While the exact details have yet to be seen, analysts believe that this new iteration will offer 2.5 side-scrolling action alongside numerous Metroidvania elements; a nice touch for traditionalists.
Final Fantasy VII – Rebirth
One of the most relevant franchises in RPGs, returns with a new installment: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Square Enix has decided to continue with the remake of the Final Fantasy VII trilogy right where it left off with its previous game. However, in the universe of Cloud and his friends, we have some technical updates compared to what we saw in Final Fantasy VII – Remake: the world of Gaia will be much more open than the Midgar we saw in the previous title. For now, we don’t have a specific release date, but the developer has confirmed it will be in the stores by February 29th.
Persona 3 Reload
The Persona saga has seen an incredible surge in popularity in recent years, especially thanks to the success of Persona 4 and Persona 5. However, this has meant that many current players have missed several installments of the series, so Atlus has chosen to make remakes of its previous titles. 2024 will see the release of Persona 3 Reload. However, the game has already received its first negative reviews, as unlike the portable console version of Persona 3, in Persona 3 Reload it will not be possible to use a female character.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
This next game is arguably one of the most anticipated releases of the upcoming year. Staying true to the Flight Simulator franchise, this next iteration should offer up the same level of first-person realism and in-game variety that players have come to expect from such a well-known developer. There are also several new features thanks to the use of the Evolve Engine created by Asobo Studio. These include mid-air dogfights, search-and-rescue missions and even the option to pilot a helicopter when transporting goods from place to place. Simply stated, there is something here for everyone.
These are only four of the games that are predicted to make waves throughout the digital games community. There is little doubt that even more developers will be eager to jump on this bandwagon in order to keep their loyal fans entertained. Whether you are a die-hard gaming enthusiast or not, feel free to examine any of the titles mentioned above.
